Solo performer in a small hotel room
A video camera sits in the corner of the room recording the events, and a camera is set up on a tripod facing a wall.
Audience numbers correspond with hotel regulations for maximum number of people allowed in room.
Description
Each audience member is admitted one at a time and was filmed by me as they entered and moved in the space. Each person is asked to give their coats and bags over in a cloak room type arrangement.
All items are carefully placed on the bed with distance from one another.
An audience member is requested to use the camera to photograph the bed with the objects.
I give a talk about the history of the room, the history of the hotel, the building, and the geographical site. Information goes from the names of the last residents of the room to the use of the land prior to it being a street.
With each new piece of information I wear a one of the objects from the bed.
I then ask an audience member to choose items to wear other than their own also.
The newly dressed person is requested to photograph me in my new image.
I return my acquired clothing to the bed while asking a different person to select and dress up in another's belongings. One by one each person will be dressed and photographed by someone else.
